Why do I have a separate page from the “Hurricane Series”?????Because, not all of my frit/enamel paintings deal solely with the hurricane theme. These pieces probably are more akin to my paintings/drawings. Use of archetypal symbols paired with either ironic commentary either in language or visual object. What can I say??? It’s just plain fun to make pieces that make people think.....or heaven forbid, laugh. (hey, one of my artistic high points was when, during a slide presentation of artists’ slides to a group of artists, gallery owners and art critics in NYC, my slide of my drawing “the Holy Pacifier” came up, and the whole room broke out in laughter.) Not much response had been evoked from the crowd until that slide. I turned a beet red when everyone wanted to know who the artist was!! Believe me, when I was working on that drawing, I tee-heed a ton!!
I hope to make some fused and painted glass bowls using the same repeat imagery that is found in my drawings/paintings. But, right now, I have some fun jewelry in the making.....pure silver machine guns, along with cast dichroic machine guns....and what else in the necklace????I’ll let you know when it gets done!!
